you know the stars have aligned just right when you not only get to see your dear friends as plan their vacation an hour away from your home, but when they gracefully ask you to take their family photos while they are here, and i am so glad they did. this beautiful family was just full of so much love and made my job of capturing their beauty so easy! while a son whose intense love for his mommy made for some serious comic relief, daddy wasn't able to get many kisses in without having some kind of interjection from sweet leyton. the day ended with drinks and food and a much needed catching up, it was a perfect evening. meet the owens.

a beautiful soul, this gentle mama just took my breath away. you know when you meet someone and you feel like they just get you? well even though our family's friendship runs deep in the past, it was the first time i got to spend time with this amazing lady and her beautiful baby girls, and i am so glad i did. watching her with them was so refreshing, just a simple, yet fierce love for her babies left me wanting more. i hope our paths continue to cross in the future but for now, i will continue to obsess over the short time we spent together with these images. meet erin and her two adorable little girls.

in honor of mothers day i wanted to find some meaningful words that i could say about mothers and motherhood. the intense feelings that l have for the beauty of the bond between her and her children is something i have come to learn that i have no words for. instead, just images. because to me, capturing that love is my favorite way to communicate. when a mother such as this amazing soul is on the other side of my lens you can't help but feel her emotions. thank you lauren, for letting me document your beauty and every thing that it is.
mother's day mini shoot
i spend my days documenting my children's life by way of photography. it is my way of freezing time, preserving memories and reflecting on our past. to me there is nothing more important than capturing these few short years they will call their childhood. days go by that turn into months and i notice the one thing missing in their stories that i tell with my camera...ME! its all so easy to make excuses, to blame our messy bed head and no makeup faces, and i am sure there are other mothers out there like me. whether you have a big fancy camera or just a camera on your phone, it is so important that we get in front of that camera with our children. the timeless beauty of a photograph of a mother and her babies almost takes my breath away, for there is no greater gift than the children we bear. put aside the "i need to lose weight" and "i am too awkward" thoughts and let's have a mother's day mini shoot to celebrate you. let me capture the real, the raw, and the breathtaking you, just as you are in this moment in life. it would be such a gift for me to give you images that portray you as a mother, especially on this holiday.
